SAN BERNARDINO, California — November 4, 2026. Voters in San Bernardino City Unified School District have reported a large Yes majority for Measure Z, the district’s school facilities bond measure. This is not the same as the countywide transportation-tax Measure I.
Latest district totals
In the final unofficial election-night report, Yes has 20,945 votes (70.82%) and No 8,632 (29.18%). All 225 school-district precincts submitted night-of-election results, but the county will continue verifying and counting eligible ballots during canvassing.
Scope of this election
Measure Z concerns school-district borrowing for eligible school facilities, not a personal cash payment to students or a general county tax. The relevant voters are those living inside San Bernardino City Unified’s voting boundaries. Other school districts and higher-education colleges have separate bond measures on this ballot.
What happens next
Final passage depends on the district measure’s applicable legal threshold and the official certified vote. Even a substantial margin in the current count should not be labeled legally final. Later reports should be compared using the same district boundaries, rather than with citywide or county totals.
